Meyers Ranch is a third and fourth generation working cow-calf operation with an ever increasing emphasis upon raising a good ranch horse to share with others. It is presently operated by Jay and Ranae Meyers along with their children, John and Jamie.

Meyers Ranch began with a Arbon Valley homestead in 1918 by Grandfather John Meyers. Like the ranchers and dry farmers of his era, he needed a dependable daily working horse and out of necessity developed an eye for the same. His cow horses came from the wild horse bands that he trapped in the winter.

His son, Merle Meyers added the competitive spirit to the operation. Dad was a good amateur calf roper of his era and, in 1958, moved the family ranch to its present location on lower Bannock Creek. This place was literally broke out of the sage brush with all improvements coming from within the family. Dad made sure that his kids were well-mounted for rodeos and everyday ranch work. His eye for a good working horse allowed Jay to attend law school on the weekend steer wrestling earnings.

Together, Ranae and Jay have worked to build a top-flight breeding program to share good working horses with others. Ranae is especially good on researching for working cow horse bloodlines with the positive attributes of each. For the past ten years, we have traveled the west to assemble a high quality broodmare band. Now Ranae and Jay both compete in reining and cow horse events using our own bred and trained horses.

Our son, John, competes in High School and Junior rodeos and steer wrestling using home trained horses (now in the brood mare band). He has won State Fair team pennings and working ranch events. Our daughter, Jamie (age 8), competes in Tiny Tot events and has now won her first barrel racing event.
