Meyers Ranch is a fourth generation working Idaho cow calf operation that runs cows on the Snake River Bottoms and on the mountains of south eastern Idaho.  The Ranch has had an ever increasing emphasis upon raising ranch and performance horses to share with others.  Meyers Ranch is currently owned and operated by Jay and Ranae Meyers.

Meyers Ranch began with an Arbon Valley homestead in 1918 by Grandfather John Meyers. Like the ranchers and dry farmers of his era, he needed a dependable daily working horse and of necessity developed an eye for the same. His cow horses came from the wild horse bands he trapped in the rugged Idaho winters. His son, Merle Meyers added a competitive spirit to the operation. Jay's dad was a good amateur calf roper in his era. In 1958, Merle moved his family to its present location on Bannock Creek. This place was literally sage brush with all improvements coming from the family. Merle made sure his kids were well mounted for rodeos and everyday ranch work. His eye for a good working horse allowed Jay to attend law school from his weekend steer wrestling earnings. Jay and Ranae's children, John and Jamie, have participated in the ranching traditions of rodeo and cattle.

The horse program has expanded as Jay and Ranae have begun to participate reined cow horse events both locally and nationally. The horses that we show and ranch on are horses that are that we have bred, trained, and shown ourselves. Meyers Ranch has put together a top breeding program with an eye to performance ranch horses that will work on the ranch and in the arena, and that people can share in. Mares with earnings or mares with produce earnings have carefully been maintained into the broodmare band. The stallion battery is made up of foundation bred Jackie Bee lines, CD Olena (New CD), Docs Oak (Oaks Josie Wales, Arc Stylish Oak) and Reminic (Nic It In The Bud). Jay has successfully garnered several first places, and year end awards on offspring raised on the ranch. The ranching traditions live on.

We are proud to announce that Meyers Ranch has been honored as a member of the Eastern Idaho Horseman Hall of Fame and as a member of the AQHA Ranching Heritage Breeders.
